Where Expats and locals go for a night out

The Thais are renowned for adding spice to life with the spirit of sanuk ( fun ). This inherent spirit of fun is one reason the Bangkok night scene is so unlike those of other cities in the world. Thais take to fun as ducks take to water, to use a clich?, And visitors should do well to follow their lend in the search for the ultimate Bangkok night out.

So where do the hip Thais go for their night out? Fickle as they are, Thais easily tire out of "in" places. In the process, they have created "cool" entertainment venues in practically every corner of the metropolis. Sometimes, before the foreigners learn of these places, the place had ceased to be the fad.

The resurrected RCA (Royal City Avenue), That 2.5 kilometer stretch between Rama 9 and New Petchburi Roads, is basically a haunt for the young blood. Of course, the high bloods are welcome here. The best way to enjoy here is to take the outdoor seats and enjoy people-watching as you sip your beer.

If you are in the Silom-Surawongse-Rama 4 area, the place to be is Silom 4, a favorite of farangs or foreigners. Just across the Convent Road, in the evening, the road is not recognizable because of the makeshift stalls strewn around. Some good places for dancing, eating and drinking abound in this entertainment street.

On the Grand Palace area, there's a road called Khao Sarn, which also hosts a cluster of pubs. This is know in the tourist circles as an exclusive haunt of young, backpacking tourists, but many young Thais-presumably those who live In nearby areas-do frequent the place. Khao Sarn was probably the noisiest street in Bangkok during the night.

All these night places, from RCA to Khao Sarn, have their own respective characteristics that Thai night goers find interesting. As a visitor, it's up for you to discover what makes these places that interesting.
